Private Client Solicitor (Wills, Trusts, LPA’s)- Corby

Our Private Client team is seeking to appoint an experienced Solicitor or Legal Executive, technically competent and capable of managing their own caseload independently without the need of supervision,  based at our Corby office and servicing our clients throughout the Northamptonshire counties.

You will ideally have 3+ years’ PQE, and have competent knowledge advising in the following areas:

  • Estates & Administration
  • Estate & inheritance planning
  • Wills
  • LPAs
  • Trusts

Be confident and willing to work with our Commercial teams based in Corby and build relationships with our commercial clients to help build a caseload in Corby.  This position requires a thirst for Business Development and ability to engage with new contacts and opportunities to expand our client base in Corby.

 

Residential Conveyancing Paralegal- Kettering

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Paralegal to join our busy Residential Conveyancing team, based at our Kettering office.

This is an exciting opportunity, and the successful applicant will have experience of working within a busy residential property team. You will also be IT literate and committed, with a previous working knowledge of using case management systems.

Responsibilities…

This is a full and busy role and will include the following:

  • Supporting a senior conveyancer
  • Dealing with initial paperwork
  • Issuing draft contracts
  • Dealing with enquiries and managing sale files
  • Ordering and checking routine property searches
  • Experience of title checking preferred but not essential
  • Setting up matters for completion.
  • General administration.
  • Checking mortgage offers
  • Dealing directly with clients, estate agents and lenders.
  • Supporting other members of the team whenever possible
  • Post completion.

Requirements

You will have the ability to confidently manage your own workload, prioritise effectively, have excellent communication skills and be a team player.  Previous residential conveyancing experience and the ability to work within a busy team is essential. Excellent business development skills are desirable, as well as strong organisational skills.

Residential Conveyancing Team Leader/ Conveyancer - Leicester

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Conveyancer to join, manage and develop our expanding Residential Conveyancing team in Leicester.

This is an exciting opportunity, and the successful applicant will have proven experience of working within a busy residential property team and dealing with a varied caseload including:

  • Sale and purchase (including leasehold and new-build)
  • Re-mortgage
  • Equity release
  • Transfer of equity

You must be confident in developing and managing relationships with both clients and referrers, be IT literate and committed with a previous working knowledge of using case management systems.

Excellent business development skills are essential, as well as strong organisation and compliance skills. Experience in managing a team is essential, together with an ability to work with minimal supervision.

Legal and Finance Assistant (Court of Protection) - Northampton

The Court of Protection team manage the financial affairs of vulnerable or mentally incapable people living in the community and in care homes and hospital settings through authorisations from the Court of Protection and Powers of Attorney.

A full-time Legal and Finance Assistant is required to join this busy and interesting team at Northampton with a diverse client base. Working as part of the team, you will help with essential case management for these clients to help manage their financial affairs.

 

Responsibilities…

This is a full and busy role and will include the following:

 

  • Supporting the team in all accounting roles, specifically the reconciliation of client’s bank accounts.
  • Carrying out essential case management support to the Court of Protection team.
  • Assisting the other team members in managing their case load on a task-by-task basis.
  • Setting up payment authorisation reconciling bank statements; monitoring deputyship bank accounts and dealing with financial institutions, including opening and closure of bank accounts.
  • Preparing files for detailed cost assessment and e-filing with The Senior Court Costs Office and dealing with the cost lawyers enquiries.
  •  Preparing detailed file notes for all actions carried out on the file
  • Completion of forms and applications at the case handler’s direction
  • Taking and dealing with enquiries from clients and their family and care staff.
  • General administration tasks for the management and organisation of the individual case files

Requirements

You will be well organised and possess a good aptitude for finances, banking and basic accounting.

You will be trustworthy, caring, patient, and understanding and possess an enthusiasm for work within the Court of Protection and Private client area of the law, working with vulnerable and elderly people and their families.

Previous Court of Protection exposure is preferred and some experience in dealing with finances is required. You must also be confident to use your initiative within set guidelines; be highly organised and have enthusiasm to develop a career in this area.

Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to have a basic DBS check and an enhanced credit check.

Legal Secretary (Court of Protection) – Northampton (Part-time)

A part-time Legal Secretary is required to support the Court of Protection team at our Northampton office. We are happy to consider proposals on preferred office hour working patterns of 18-25 hours per week; We are ideally looking for these hours to be covered every day of the week and must be available to work Wednesdays

The Court of Protection team make applications to Court for authority to help vulnerable or mentally incapable people manage their financial affairs in the community and in care homes and hospital settings and then carry out the day to day running of these vulnerable people’s finances.

You will be supporting the Court of Protection team (including Solicitors and Legal Practitioners) with their admin, organisational and audio typing tasks. Therefore, the ideal candidate will be accurate, work well as part of a team and be able to remain calm under pressure.

Responsibilities…

This role will include the following:

  • Preparing correspondence and documents through audio-typing and drafting documents.
  • Preparing bills and finances.
  • Scanning and filing (including daily post) and updating spreadsheets;
  • Task specific jobs including phone calls; corresponding with cost lawyers. Maintaining a basic knowledge of the files to enable routine enquiries to be dealt with.
  • Proof reading, copying and certifying documents
  • Arranging and co-ordinating meetings for the team both internally and externally.

Requirements

You will provide full support maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and presentation to ensure a first-class service is provided to our clients. Although previous experience in these areas of work would be desirable, other suitable candidates will be considered as full training will be given.

We are looking for a team player with excellent client care and organisational skills, an abundance of common sense and empathy. A strong team ethic, attention to detail and a passion for working with others is essential!
