Your Role

It’s not all file work! We want someone able to build relationships internally and externally, and the right person will shape their role and contribute to the team in their own way. You will provide clients with expert legal advice, will be supported by other experienced legal support staff, and a case management system that minimises the use of paper. In addition, we have an award winning marketing team to help generate leads and deal with initial enquiries.

As you’d expect, the core of your work will focus on: Wills, Estate and inheritance planning, Probate, complex estates and administration, LPAs, and Trusts.

Children Panel Solicitor - Leicester

Our expert Childcare Team is committed to looking after clients who find themselves involved in all aspects of pre-proceedings work, care proceedings work and adoptions.

They help clients understand the legal process, the steps that need to be taken, the timescales involved and above all, are there to guide clients through the legal maze in a compassionate, professional and down-to-earth way.

To contribute to the continued expansion and development of our Leicester office we are looking for a children panel solicitor with the drive and determination to develop their own case load and career.

The Wilson Browne care team currently has 5 children panel solicitors at the Leicester and Northampton offices plus talented support staff. The Leicester office is conveniently based on Peacock Walk in the heart of the city, and the role is hybrid to work around court commitments.

What we’re looking for – ideally you will:

  • Have children panel accreditation
  • Have an established case load
  • Undertake your own advocacy.
  • Be a team player but be able to manage your case load independently
  • Have a proven billing history
  • Possess exceptional case management skills.
  • Have a good knowledge of Legal Aid Agency requirements and SRA regulatory requirements.

Private Client Paralegal (Wills, Trusts and LPA’s) - Northampton

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Paralegal to join our busy Private Client team, based at our Northampton office. The successful candidate will be supporting team members in dealing primarily with Wills and Powers of Attorney and assisting with obtaining Grants of Representation and Estate Administration.

Although previous experience in these areas of work would be desirable, other suitable candidates will be considered as full training will be given.

We are looking for a team player with excellent client care skills, an abundance of common sense and empathy for elderly, vulnerable and bereaved clients. A strong team ethic, attention to detail and a passion for working with others is essential!

Responsibilities…

This is a full and busy role and will include the following:

  • Dealing directly with clients.
  • The potential to manage your own caseload under supervision.
  • General administration.
  • Checking and drafting paperwork.
  • Supporting other members of the team.

Requirements

You will have the ability to confidently manage your own workload, prioritise effectively, have excellent communication skills and be a team player. We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Paralegal to join our busy Residential Conveyancing team, based at our Higham Ferrers office.

This is an exciting opportunity, and the successful applicant will ideally have some experience of working within a busy residential property team. You will also be IT literate and committed, with a previous working knowledge of using case management systems.

Responsibilities…

This is a full and busy role and will include the following:

  • Supporting the Team Leader.
  • Dealing with initial paperwork.
  • Issuing draft contracts.
  • The potential to manage your own caseload under supervision (depending on your experience).
  • Ordering and checking routine property searches.
  • Setting up matters for completion.
  • General administration.
  • Checking mortgage offers.
  • Dealing directly with clients, estate agents and lenders.
  • Supporting other members of the team whenever possible.
  • Post completion.

Requirements

You will have the ability to confidently manage your own workload, prioritise effectively, have excellent communication skills and be a team player. Some residential conveyancing experience is preferred and the ability to work within a busy team is essential. Excellent business development skills are desirable, as well as strong organisational skills.

Legal and Finance Assistant – Court of Protection- Northampton

The Court of Protection team make applications to Court for authority to help vulnerable or mentally incapable people manage their financial affairs in the community and in care homes and hospital settings.

A full-time Legal and Finance Assistant is required to join this busy and interesting team at Northampton with a diverse client base. Working as part of the team, you will help with essential case management for these clients to help manage their financial affairs.

Responsibilities…

This is a full and busy role and will include the following:

  • Supporting the team in all accounting roles, specifically the reconciliation of client’s bank accounts.
  • Carrying out essential case management support to the Court of Protection team.
  • Assisting the other team members in managing their case load on a task-by-task basis.
  • Making payments through online banking; reconciling bank statements; monitoring deputyship bank accounts and dealing with financial institutions.
  • Preparing files for detailed cost assessment and e-filing with The Senior Court Costs Office.
  • Raising and paying invoices.
  • Taking and dealing with enquiries from clients and their family and care staff.
  • General administration tasks to include filing; photocopying; scanning, archiving files and making appointments for the team’s lawyers.

Requirements

You will be well organised and possess a good aptitute for finances, banking and basic accounting.

You will be trustworthy, caring, patient, and understanding and possess an enthusiasm for work within the Court of Protection and Private client area of the law, working with vulnerable and elderly people and their families.
