Court of Protection Case Handler - Northampton

A full-time Court of Protection Case Handler reporting to the Team Leader is required to join our busy and interesting Court of Protection team at Northampton, with a diverse client base.

Working as part of the team to achieve group targets, you will be responsible for carrying out essential case management for the Court of Protection team.

You will support the team to help and assist and move matters forward. This may entail visiting clients, instructing third parties, and using your initiative.

Experience in this field is preferred but on the job training and further training is an option.

You will assist with:

  • Preparing Court of Protection applications/forms.
  • Carrying out tasks on the day-to-day financial affairs of COP clients.
  • Visiting COP clients in their home or care setting.
  • Corresponding and dealing with family members and care staff.
  • Dealing with the client’s financial institutions.
  • Recording deputyship invoices and raising payments.
  • Preparing COP annual accounts.
  • Preparing files for detailed assessment and making cost applications.
  • Taking and dealing with enquiries from clients & third parties.
  • Considering the basis for best interest principle decisions.
  • Working with Wealth Managers; accountants and case managers.
  • Dealing with the Court and OPG.

You will possess good personal organisation, common sense, strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and patience, with the ability to provide the highest standards of client care.

You will be caring, patient, and understanding and possess an enthusiasm for work within the Court of Protection and Private client area of the law, working with vulnerable and elderly people and their families.

Previous Court of Protection exposure is preferred and some experience in dealing with people suffering mental incapacity is desirable, but more importantly, you must have enthusiasm to develop a career in this area.

Court Of Protection CILEX/FILEX/Solicitor - Northampton

As an experienced lawyer (CILEX/FILEX/Solicitor) you know what this role entails!

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Contentious Probate Paralegal to assist the wider team in our Leicester office.

We have a highly regarded Legal 500 private client department. They often deal with HNW individuals who have national and international assets and interests. You will sit as part of the litigation team dealing solely with a contentious probate caseload and supporting the Head of Team. As well as local clients the firm enjoys a market-leading online presence (thanks to its in-house award winning marketing team), and you will represent clients from all over England & Wales.

You will assist on a diverse caseload of Contentious Probate and Trusts matters to include; Contesting the Validity of Wills, Inheritance Act Disputes, Trustee Disputes, and Estate Disputes.

  • You will have had exposure to contentious probate, commercial litigation, or general wills and probate matters.
