The Michael Jackson Case

People just “don’t stop till they get enough”. Michael Jackson had created a revocable trust prior to his death in order to ensure his children and mother were taken care of. He signed the trust document but did not “fund” the trust which is the process of transferring the assets into the trust he created.

Because his assets were not put into the trust, his estate had to go through Probate before the trust could be funded. This opened up the estate to many ongoing litigations from his siblings and claims from creditors rather than being able to follow his wishes, massively reducing his estates worth once the claims were finished.
