Jemma is an Associate who qualified as a solicitor in 2006. She has practised in family law since this time. In recent years she has developed a specialism in public law cases. She is a member of the Law Society’s Children Accreditation Scheme which is a specialist panel of solicitors who have been assessed by the Law Society as having a high skill level to be able to represent children within court proceedings.
Jemma represents both children and parents and/or other family members in public law proceedings which occur when the local authority have become so concerned about the welfare of a child they issue court proceedings to ask the court to consider the future living arrangements for them and whether they can continue to live with their parents.
Her work also includes representation of parents and/or family members in adoption and special guardianship cases and representation of children in private law proceedings (disputes between family members without the involvement of the local authority) where children are made parties to the case due to level of complexity.
Jemma regularly acts for clients where there are issues such as mental health difficulties, substance misuse, neglect, domestic violence etc. She has also represented clients in complex cases involving non accidental injuries, sexual abuse and child death.
She has been involved in several cases which have set legal precedents following High Court or Court of Appeal decisions. Most recently these have included complex areas of law in respect of the admissibility of foreign convictions in family proceedings and parental alienation.
Jemma strives hard to achieve the best possible result for each and every client. She takes time and care to provide legal support for people at what can be an extremely difficult time in their life. She is highly regarded by clients and professionals alike.

Throughout my involvement with this case, I have noticed that Jemma has consistently gone “above and beyond” for this client, dedicating a lot of her own personal time to ensuring this client is fully supported. Frank and robust advice has been given throughout. Jemma has never faltered in her commitment to ensuring the client has been given all of the appropriate legal advice and support she could need. Jemma has empathy in spades, whilst she retains her professionalism and objectivity at all times. It has been my absolute pleasure to work with Jemma on this case and I would have no hesitation in referring clients to Jemma should they need representation. She is a credit to Wilson Browne and I look forward to working with her again in the future
