Corporate & Commercial Associate Solicitor/ Junior Partner- Northampton
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Solicitor or Junior Partner to join our Corporate & Commercial Team in Northampton.
Wilson Browne is the largest commercial law team in Northamptonshire – recognised by the Legal 500, Lexcel Accredited, and winner of numerous awards. It may come as a shock, but there is an active Company & Commercial market outside of the big cities – this region is thriving and with that, comes great opportunity for ambitious lawyers.
Our growing team works with local, regional and national clients; supporting them with all aspects of their business. We’re looking for someone with a broad understanding of the commercial and legal needs of corporate clients and experience in advising on: corporate structures; acquisition and growth strategies; succession planning; mergers and joint ventures; restructures and demergers; commercial contracts; and corporate governance. You will have entrepreneurial instincts and spirit and be used to collaborating closely with colleagues across a range of disciplines, clients and other firms and advisers. You will be well connected professionally and adept at networking and driving business development.
Responsibilities:
You will be advising on the following:
- Mergers, Acquisitions & Disposals
- Succession Planning
- Employee Share Schemes including EMIs, EBTs and EOTs
- Restructuring and Demergers
- Finance Documents
- Governance Documents including Shareholders Agreements, Articles of Association and Partnership Agreements
- Commercial Contracts
- Franchising
- …drafting, advising, negotiating, dealmaking…
..if you follow all that, AND enjoy supervising and working in an environment that also promotes a healthy work life balance… then you’re talking our language, and if that’s the case we should be talking.
Ideally you will have 8 years + PQE and a good range of experience, and be excited to join a growing Corporate Commercial Team that has a great flow of work already, and more to come.
If you’ve got this far in your career you are no doubt a confident communicator: persuasive, articulate, and friendly with a good sense of humour…and a hunger to get deals done (as well as having good drafting and analytical skills).
Please note, that our PQE requirements are for guide purposes. If you have more or fewer years of experience, or are FILEX nor SRA registered, we would still love to hear from you!
Senior Associate / Junior Partner / Team Leader Employment Solicitor- Northampton
Tell me more about the role….
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Employment expert to join our team based at our Northampton office, where you will work with a leading Employment Partner in the next phase of growth for the team. You will be confident and have some management experience to help train and supervise the team. This position offers a real opportunity for leadership with genuine market leading Legal 500 support already in place: the best of both worlds! A willingness to get involved in Business Development is desirable, but leadership and the ability to engage with new contacts and the wider teams for growth and development are where you will shine.
You will ideally have 5+ years PQE and be competent at working independently, handling your own caseload from initial instruction through to completion. This is a role where your voice will be heard, with genuine scope for a challenging but supported career.
Responsibilities:
You will undertake a diverse caseload incorporating contentious and non-contentious work for employer clients. Wilson Browne acts for a diverse client base including SMEs, OMBs and listed companies. In addition, we also act for employees. No two days are the same… you could be working on anything from Settlement Agreements to providing corporate support for M&A work as well as the full range of employment matters including, but not limited to:
- Assisting with Modern Slavery Act compliance,
- Playing an integral advisory role with a variety of projects (including re-structuring, changing terms and conditions of employment and large-scale redundancy exercises),
- Providing strategic advice in connection with Boardroom/SMT disputes,
- Providing ad hoc advice on operational HR matters,
- Assisting with data protection compliance, and
- Representing clients in employment tribunals.
This is a role that will grow with you, and you’ll also have the opportunity to work on projects in conjunction with our Corporate & Commercial, Commercial Litigation, and Commercial Property teams (all recognised by Legal 500). On top of that, you’ll have first-class support from our award-winning Marketing Team, to assist with business development opportunities.
We are looking for the right person, our next leader. We are in no rush, this is a growth role, not a succession scenario, there is much to be done and we will look at the person willing to step up or the person ready to step out and take that lead.
