Amending Building Regulations & New Approved Document Require Electric Vehicle Charge Points in New Buildings

The Building Regulations etc (Amendment) (England) (No 2) Regulations 2021 (SI 2021/1392) were laid before Parliament on 15 December 2021 and come into force on 15 June 2022. The Regulations make the changes set out in the government’s November 2021 response to its July 2019 consultation on new requirements for installing electric vehicle (EV) charge points in new buildings in England.

Also on 15 December 2021, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) published:

• Approved Document : infrastructure for charging electric vehicles, which provides technical guidance regarding the installation and charge point requirements in Part S to the Building Regulations. View here
