Summer Steps Challenge For Poverty Hurts
Reasons to choose Wilson Browne
Thousands across Northamptonshire are facing impossible choices — heating or eating, rent or food, debt or dignity.
We’re backing Northamptonshire Community Foundation’s Poverty Hurts appeal with a Summer Steps Challenge. Walking a loop of our offices totals 113 miles — on average, 7500 steps a day in August — an achievable, healthy target.
What is the Summer Steps Challenge:
The Summer Steps Challenge is Wilson Browne’s month-long initiative supporting the Poverty Hurts appeal from Northamptonshire Community Foundation. Participants commit to walking an average of 7,500 steps each day throughout August, which is equivalent to a 113‑mile circuit linking Wilson Browne’s offices – this will raise vital funds for local families struggling with food, fuel, debt, and dignity issues.
Get Involved!
Joining is easy and open to everyone looking to stay active and motivated throughout August – a walk in the park, a stroll on your lunch break, or steps around the house. Once you’ve done your steps tag us in a post and share a weekly update. The goal is to keep moving every day in August, building healthy habits while having fun: whether solo or with friends, every step counts!
Wilson Browne will match individual donations up to £75 (with a total matching cap of £1,000). You can also download a sponsorship form here
First 100 sign-ups get a free Wilson Browne water bottle. Enjoy weekly prizes and a grand prize for the top walker. All we ask is a £30 donation (via the link) — less than £1 a day.
About Poverty Hurts
The cost-of-living crisis is deepening in 2025. Local charities are stretched to their limits, helping people in real distress. But they can’t do it alone and your support can be a lifeline.
Every donation to the #PovertyHurts appeal goes directly to grassroots groups across Northamptonshire, delivering:
- Emergency food and fuel
- Debt advice and crisis support
- Mental health services
- Help for the elderly and disabled
- Community transport and digital access
- Housing support and homelessness prevention
Rachel McGrath, CEO of Northamptonshire Community Foundation, says:
We believe in the power of community. No one should face a crisis alone. We’ve stood together through the pandemic and the early cost-of-living crisis. Now we must dig deep again.
Be part of something powerful. Help us support those who need it most.
