10% off Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney

Is your Will fit for Purpose? Wills don’t come with a service schedule…but that doesn’t stop them from needing regular checks. Think of updating a Will and estate planning as routine maintenance.

Your legal "estate"

If your personal circumstances have recently changed, talk to us about a legal estate health check.

One of our specialists will review your existing documentation which may include a Will or Power of Attorney, in the context of wealth preservation, protection for care home fees and Inheritance Tax  – if you are adequately protected we’ll tell you. If we think you aren’t, perhaps because of a change of circumstances, we will advise you about the things you should be considering.

Estate planning advice could include:

  • Ensuring your Will is drafted in a tax-efficient manner, particularly in light of recent tax changes
  • A marriage or civil partnership automatically revokes an existing Will (although conversion to marriage from a civil partnership does not)
  • Divorce; including the possibility of a beneficiary divorcing
  • Death of a beneficiary, executor or guardian
  • Birth of further potential beneficiaries
  • Changed relationships
  • Gifts of specific items – if you no longer have the particular item or want it to go to someone different
  • Foreign property
  • Business interests – if you have started a new business or your business interests have changed
  • Insurance policies – if you have acquired a financial product with a life policy element
  • Enduring Powers of Attorney – if you have one, is it still valid/still fit for purpose? Is it time to consider an LPA (Property & Finance of Health & Welfare)
  • Legal Power of Attorney’s – allowing you to appoint someone you trust to deal with any Property and Financial and/or Health and Welfare decisions on your behalf.
  • Trusts – if you have acquired an interest under a trust or if you should be considering setting up a trust to protect your beneficiaries
  • Wealth – if you have acquired greater wealth, tax planning would be sensible
  • Long term care is expensive but you can mitigate its impact
  • Inheritance Tax planning

If you’re thinking of reviewing your estate or are concerned about whether you should, contact us for an initial discussion

Residential Conveyancing

10% off our fees – excludes disbursements and any 3rd party costs.

We offer a free initial call for most areas of law we cover, so it costs nothing to pick up the phone and ask. It is important to understand that we do not give legal advice during these early stages. We will advise you on whether we feel you have a case worth pursuing; we can advise you on likely costs etc but we are unable to give legal advice until you formally retain our services and become a client.

For more complex enquiries, such as some business-related ones, we may arrange a further brief call with a lawyer: this is a 10-15 minute call to confirm all of the essential facts, let you know your options, and give a further indication of costs. This offer is only valid for a month after the awards take place, so the closing date for these offers is the 18th of August.
