Environmental Permitting

Reasons to choose Wilson Browne

On 7 January 2019, the Environment Agency (EA) published a consultation on proposed revisions to its public participation statement (PPS) for Environmental Permitting (EP). The consultation closes on 1 March 2019.

The PPS explains when and how the EA consults on specific permit applications and on changes for standard permit rules. It is required under the EP legislation.

The EA proposes that the third edition of the PPS will be renamed “Environmental Permitting: when and how we consult” and that it will:

  • Refine the contents so it is easier and quicker to use.
  • Include a list of factors that the EA will consider when deciding if an application is of high public interest.
  • Be updated to include how the EA will consult on permit applications for flood risk activities, medium combustion plants, and specified generators.

The consultation is available here
