Making Sure No One Is Left Behind

Reasons to choose Wilson Browne

The third of December marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The day promotes inclusion ensuring that nobody is left behind, recognising that people who live with disabilities are amongst the most affected populations following the COVID pandemic.

The Court of Protection team  assist hundreds of people with disabilities to manage their financial affairs and ensure that each and every client has the best quality of life, accessing the right services for them to achieve that goal. The experts at Wilson Browne Solicitors take the time to get to know clients and include them in decision making, wherever possible.

Here’s are just two examples of our current clients;-

Client P

P has learning difficulties and cerebral palsy leading to poor mobility. His disabilities mean that he lacks the capacity to manage his finances and doesn’t have the ability to go out alone or to organise and arrange things.

The Court of Protection team have managed P’s finances for 3 years and in this time have been able to assist him to arrange a trip to Disney Land, acquire both an electric wheelchair and an adapted vehicle enabling his carers to transport him around. The team are currently in the process of adapting his home with a new wet room all of which enable P to live as close to a normal life as possible.

Client S

S had an accident in 2014 which left them wheelchair bound. After moving into a care home, Wilson Browne Solicitors were appointed as Attorney. When the decision was made for S to move into a care home, S was unable to complete the process on their own and the team stepped in to assist with selling the property and arrange care home fees.

Following an open house event, all offers made on the property were discussed with S and agreed which offer to accept. Additionally, when clearing the property in preparation to sell S was consulted and the team ensured that all possessions  requested by S were taken with them to the care home.

S also requests the team to arrange other things on their behalf, most recently requesting us to organise a magazine subscription for them. We are able to ensure that S’s disability does not prevent them from having the things they want, taking away the stress of selling property and resolving care home fee chasers, where a disability prevents them from doing so.

The Court of Protection team at Wilson Browne Solicitors are here to help in any way you may require. If you have a disability and feel you need some assistance, or if you are an Attorney assisting someone with a disability and would like some advice on the best way to help, we are all the help you need.
