Blunders Behind NHS Baby Deaths Risks Cover-ups Under New Plans

Government Plans to introduce fixed legal costs to clinical negligence claims worth less than £25,000 will severely hit patients’ access to justice. Those likely to be affected will be families who have suffered the loss of an elderly family member or a baby death. Our Head of Clinical Negligence Team Louise Tyler has been campaigning with Patient and Lawyer organisations opposed to these plans. An article has been published today as a result of our campaigning which highlights the problem and the patient stories mentioned are representative of families all over the country with similar claims. All of whom will be denied access to justice if the Government plans go ahead. Such claims will be swept under the carpet and Hospital Trusts will not be held to account for their actions. The Dept of Health has announced that ministers will respond to the Fixed Recoverable Costs plan after 31st July.
