Furloughing – Still A Number Of Uncertainties

Reasons to choose Wilson Browne

The latest figures from the Office of National Statistics Business Impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) Survey (BICS) show that just over a quarter of the workforce (27%) have been furloughed.

The figures show an increasing up take of the furlough scheme; and this has, undoubtedly, saved a number of jobs. Many questions about the scheme have been answered with a flurry of recently published and revised HMRC guidance – and the Wilson Browne Coronavirus Hub is updated with this guidance.

However, despite these answers, there are still a number of uncertainties surrounding the scheme. These include questions about holidays and giving notice to furloughed employees – matters which are likely to come to the fore in coming days and weeks given the forthcoming bank holidays and the scheme’s end date.

We will continue to update the Wilson Browne Coronavirus Hub with information about these and other CJRS related issues.
